Terms of Service

Draft — not yet reviewed by a lawyer. Buddy Recall has not launched and is not accepting users. These terms are published in draft so they can be reviewed and linked during development. They must be checked by a qualified lawyer before launch.

These terms are the agreement between you and Buddy Recall, operated by [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME]. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not create an account.

You must be 18 or older

Buddy Recall is for adults. You confirm at signup that you are at least 18. If you are not, you may not use the service, and any account discovered to belong to someone under 18 will be deleted.

Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping access to it secure. Do not share it. One person, one account. Choose a username that is not offensive and does not impersonate somebody else.

What you post

You keep ownership of what you write — your identities, your searches, your messages. You grant Buddy Recall the permission it needs to store that content and show it to the specific people the service is designed to show it to, which is what makes matching and messaging work at all. That permission ends when you delete the content.

You are responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the right to post it.

Things you must not do

Harass, threaten, abuse or stalk anybody
Impersonate another person, or register an identity you did not play under in order to reach somebody
Post content that is unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise abusive
Send unsolicited advertising, chain messages, or bulk contact of any kind
Attempt to identify, locate or contact someone who has not accepted a match with you
Use the service to gather information about people for any purpose other than reconnecting with someone you actually knew
Automate access, scrape, or attempt to circumvent the matching or access rules
Probe, damage or interfere with the service or the systems it runs on

Other people

Buddy Recall connects you with other human beings, and it does not verify that anyone is who they say they were. A match is a suggestion supported by evidence, not a guarantee of identity — you are the one with the memories, and the final judgement is yours.

Take the same care you would take with any stranger online. Be deliberate about what you share, and about moving a conversation onto another platform.

Reporting

You can report a person or a message from inside the app. Reports are reviewed and may result in content being removed or an account being suspended or deleted. Content connected to an open report may be retained until the report is resolved.

Suspension and removal

Access may be suspended or terminated, and content removed, where these terms are broken or where it is necessary to protect other people or the service. Where it is reasonable to do so, you will be told why.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from within the app. Deletion removes your profile, identities, searches, matches and messages. Deleting content that has conversations attached also ends those conversations for the other person; the app warns you before this happens.

Availability

The service is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. It may be unavailable, may lose data, may fail to find someone who is genuinely there, and may propose a match that turns out to be the wrong person. No guarantee is made that you will find anyone.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Buddy Recall is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, for lost data, or for the conduct of other users, whether online or in person. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Third-party names

Game titles, server names, platform names and trademarks referred to in the service belong to their owners. Buddy Recall is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any game publisher or platform.

Changes

These terms may change. If a change is material, the date above changes and you will be told in the app before it applies to you. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
